Thermodynamic analysis of equilibrium processes in complex natural systems

The paper is devoted to the research of possibilities of application of the thermobarometric parameters' calculation method for the natural metamorphic processes. Several examples illustrate that convergence of all equilibria in a single point P-T of the region properly correlates with the chemical indications of equilibrium. This technique makes it possible to find out the state of equilibrium between minerals in samples of the investigated system.

Heat effects and concentration of magmatic melt impurities during the intrusive formation

Melt crystallization in an intrusive is a temporal exothermic process occurring in a non-equilibrium system. The heat liberated in the crystallizing system and the heat removed into the environment are interrelated. Their relation sets the level of the positive feed-back that is determined by the heat accelerating the crystallization process through the temperature variations. In the context of non-equilibrium thermodynamics principles, crystallization of a magmatic melt differs from that occurring by equilibrium scheme. The process periodicity sets the fluctuation regimes for crystallization velocity and temperature. The conditions of heat liberation play the part of a fluctuation amplifier. In this case the heat outflow velocity will control the crystallization velocity. The higher is the heat outflow velocity, the more often such fluctuations repeat. The proper conditions for creating periodic chemical heterogeneity in the front crystallization area are determined by the relation of two velocities: the velocity of melt crystallization and that of heat outflow into the environment through the enclosing rocks. So the impurities' concentration before the crystallization front as a rhythmic repetition of some minerals (including PGE) should last for a long time. In certain places of intrusive volumes the impurities should be trapped according to the heat outflow conditions and the kind of the heat conductivity of the enclosing rocks.

On the data correctness of thermodynamic properties of the melt components

The absence of the correct data on thermodynamic characteristics of silicate melts' simple and compound components is the most important problem for modelling of nature systems crystallization processes. The paper has shown the incompetence of using reference literature data for modelling of minerals' thermodynamic characteristics. The author has analyzed the behaviour of natrium tetroborate in a wide temperature range. The results have proved the necessity to know thermal capacity as well as correct values of entropy, enthalpy and the Gibbs' free energy for modelling of magmatic melt crystallization process.

Metamorphism conditions and evaluation of fluid mode of the Pansky massive ore-bearing horizon in connection with the PGE mineralization

The paper contains detailed petrogenetic and microsonde mineralogical research of structure of silicate and sulfide mineral phases of the Pansky massive ore-bearing horizon. Mineral paragenesis and typomorphic peculiarities of minerals, crystallization consecution and thermobarometric conditions of formation in the ore-bearing horizon and ore-free rocks have been researched. It has been established that during metamorphism processes the simultaneous change of the rock mineral structure and its fluid component has been taken place. This process carries the unidirectional and consecutive character and is well reproduced by physical and chemical models. These results will help to estimate the role and influence of the Р -Рў parameters and fluid mode on component structure of firm phases and flying components during transformation and localization of platinum metal mineralization.
